Old City Bravely Transitioning To Smart City

Here’s something I found super interesting about Smart Cities.

There isn't a single set definition of a Smart City— yet. There is, however, lots of talk about smart cities, technology, and the benefits they bring.

Here are just 4 benefits from a city becoming smart.

  1. Smart cities have the capability to collect more data, and as more data-driven decision-making is done, city service levels rise. One benefit is that city decision-makers now have better data to inform their decisions.

  2. Smart cities connect their people to their government. Trust and civic engagement increase when people are more connected to their government. The result of feeling connected often leads people to feelings of happiness.

  3. A smart city is a safer city. With better, appropriately placed technology, criminal activity can be reduced. Rapid identification systems, predictive policing, computer-aided dispatch, license plate recognition, and gunshot detectors are only a few ways new technology can help fight crime.

  4. Investment in smart city technology has a multiplier effect, especially economically. From smart water management systems all the way to smart parking, smart cities can operate more efficiently and improve services to citizens and businesses.

I like to create abstract art to communicate messages about Smart Cities.

As with many paintings in my Smart City Art Collection, Old City Bravely Transitioning To Smart City embodies deep socio-political reflection and showcases multi-layered, diverse artistic skill.

It reflects an older city evolving into a technologically advanced, data-driven, economically prosperous, and interconnected smart city.

It’s a vibrant 36”x36” acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas. My goal was to capture the transformative energy of a city evolving into a smarter, more dynamic space.

Using abstract and expressionist styles, I captured the chaos and excitement of urban renewal.

My brushstrokes intertwine old architectural forms with new digital symbols, suggesting a seamless blend of tradition and innovation. This piece aims to evoke hope and the pulsing rhythms of happy progress.
